17. Pittsburgh Steelers
Darnell Wright, OT, Tennessee
Both of the Steelers’ offensive tackles were really bad last year. They need to protect Kenny Pickett and give Najee Harris a little bit of room. Wright is a big athletic tackle. The Steelers need help at both tackle spots, so they can start him out at right tackle if they want.
18. Detroit Lions
Trenton Simpson, OLB, Clemson
The offensive side of the ball in Detroit looks pretty good, but the defensive side needs help in every position group. They took a defensive end with their first 1st round pick, now they add the top linebacker in the class. He’s a big athletic freak that Detroit should find plenty of ways to use.
19. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
O’Cyrus Torrence, OG, Florida
Tampa Bay’s offensive line needs an upgrade on the interior. Whoever their quarterback is, they’re going to need more protection than Tampa has now.
20. Seattle Seahawks
Devon Witherspoon, CB, Illinois
Witherspoon is talked about as a possible top 10 pick, I think he falls a bit. He’s still a talented cornerback, who should help the Seahawks secondary be more competitive.
21. Miami Dolphins
[Pick forfeited]
22. Los Angeles Chargers
Michael Mayer TE, Notre Dame
The Chargers should draft a new coach, but since that’s not an option, they give franchise quarterback Justin Herbert a nice new weapon. Michael Mayer is nicknamed “Baby Gronk”. He can take some of the pressure off the aging and injured receivers.
23. Baltimore Ravens
Jordan Addison WR, USC
Whether it’s Lamar Jackson or someone else, the Ravens need someone to throw to. Even assuming Rashod Bateman stays healthy and contributes, it’s still Mark Andrews and no one out there. Addison is my favorite receiver in the draft. He’s good at everything.
24. Minnesota Vikings
Lukas Van Ness, DL, Iowa.
The Vikings may trade down here, they traded away a lot of this year’s picks and could look to recoup. Minnesota had an awful defense last year, one of the worst. Van Ness would be a starting defensive end for the Vikings immediately.
25. Jacksonville Jaguars
Kelee Ringo, CB, Georgia
Ringo is a big, physical, athletic cornerback. He’s got a ton of potential that can’t be ignored. 6’2” corners who run a sub 4.4 40 are valuable, with good reason.
26. New York Giants
Zay Flowers, WR, Boston College.
Danny Dimes needs someone to drop those dimes to. Flowers is a nice slot receiver who should be able to give Jones an underneath option to hit over the middle.
27. Dallas Cowboys
Bijan Robinson RB, Texas
Tony Pollard got franchised tagged and is coming off a major injury. The top rated running back happens to come from the University of Texas. Jerry Jones can’t wait to take Robinson.
28. Buffalo Bills
Drew Sanders LB, Arkansas
Drew Sanders comes in and tries to replace the departing Termaine Edmunds. Sanders can play the middle and can also be moved outside to rush the passer. He’s big and athletic as well as versatile.
29. Cincinnati Bengals
Anton Harrison, OT, Oklahoma
Jonah Williams wants out and Joe Burrow wants to stay alive. Harrison is a polished pass blocker. He may be an immediate upgrade from Jonah Williams and keeping Joe Burrow healthy is obviously the key to a successful Bengals season.
30. New Orleans Saints (via DEN)
Bryan Bresee, DT, Clemson
The Saints have a lot of needs. Bresee has the flexibility to play in any position on the defensive line. He’s also an upgrade from anyone not named Cameron Jordan on the Saints’ defensive line.
31. Philadelphia Eagles
Will McDonald IV, DE,
McDonald IV gets to the quarterback and racks up sacks. He’s a fantastic athlete coming off the edge. The Eagles pick up another lineman to pressure the quarterback, as their ends are getting up there in age.
32. Kansas City Chiefs
Josh Downs, WR, North Carolina
An undersized, ultra athletic big play wide receiver. I wonder if the Chiefs know how to utilize one of those. The Chiefs are missing a starting wide receiver after Mecole Hardman left in free agency.
