Mock Draft 2023 NFL

2023 NFL Mock Draft

1. Carolina Panthers (via CHI)

C.J. Stroud QB, Ohio State

Carolina is taking a quarterback, the only question is which quarterback. If I were the Panthers GM, I wouldn’t have traded up and rolled with Matt Corral and tried to fill the other holes on my team. As of now, it looks like Carolina is taking the ultra talented CJ Stroud.

2. Houston Texans

Bryce Young QB, Alabama

The Davis Mills era appears to be over in Houston. Another team with holes all over the roster, I don’t think they’ll be able to resist taking whatever quarterback Carolina doesn’t. Young is also a star in the making, let’s hope Houston doesn’t ruin him.

3. Arizona Cardinals

Jalen Carter IDL, Georgia

Definitely a trade possibility in this spot to get ahead of the quarterback needy Colts. I’m not mocking trades this draft, so it’s Jalen Carter. Bad pro day, bad Combine, who cares? Everyone has already seen what he can do on the field.

4. Indianapolis Colts

Will Levis QB, Kentucky

Much like Carolina, it’s almost impossible to see the Colts go anywhere but quarterback here. They take Will Levis and his cannon arm. Levis is a lot like Josh Allen coming out of college, including the very real possibility he could be a bust.

5. Seattle Seahawks (via DEN)

Will Anderson, DE, Alabama

Geno Smith outplayed Russell Wilson last year by a wide margin, so there’s no reason they shouldn’t stick with him. Pete Carroll should be ecstatic that Anderson fell to him at five. He may very well be the best player in the draft. Carter is a legitimate threat for double digit sacks in his rookie year.

6. Detroit Lions

Nolan Smith EDGE, Georgia

The Lions decide Jared Goff is fine, and take an edge rusher. Nolan Smith on one side, Aiden Hutchinson on the other is an intriguing prospect for Detroit.

7. Las Vegas Raiders

Anthony Richardson, QB, Florida

The Raiders sure as hell aren’t going to pass on an athletic freak at quarterback. Much like Levis, he’s got a very high ceiling. He also has a low floor. But the Las Vegas Raiders are always ready to gamble.

8. Atlanta Falcons

Tyree Wilson, Edge, Texas Tech

I’m excited to see what Desmond Ridder can do, and I think the Falcons are too. Atlanta was horrible at pressuring the quarterback last year, so they go with a big strong defensive end with room to grow.

9. Chicago Bears (via CAR)

Paris Johnson Jr., OT, Ohio State

Now that Justin Fields has shown he has the potential to be special, the Bears need to get him help. Offensive line and wide receiver need to be on Chicago’s radar early.

10. Philadelphia Eagles (via NO)

Christian Gonzalez, CB, Oregon

The Eagles got carved up in the Super Bowl by Mahomes. It happens a lot, but still, Philadelphia could use an upgrade at cornerback opposite Darius Slay.

11. Tennessee Titans

Quentin Johnston WR, TCU

The Titans are bad at passing the ball. They need a major upgrade at wide receiver. Johnston is a big physical athletic receiver, much like former Titan AJ Brown. I believe signing Andre Dillard makes it less likely the Titans go offensive tackle here.

12. Houston Texans (via CLE)

Peter Skoronski OT, Northwestern

Now that you have a rookie franchise quarterback, you better figure out how to protect him. Skoronski is very versatile, but I think he would fit best at right tackle taking over for Tytus Howard.

13. New York Jets

Jaxon Smith-Njigba WR, Ohio State

The Jets are doing whatever Aaron Rodgers wants. He, like every other quarterback, wants an athletic freak who can make huge plays. That’s Jaxson Smith-Njigba.

14. New England Patriots

Cam Smith CB, South Carolina

You think Bill Belichick is going to take a receiver just because they’ve needed one for years? Why start now. He also likes measurables a lot more than people seem to notice. He goes for tall athletic cornerback Cam Smith, which most mocks will have going 10-20 picks later.

15. Green Bay Packers

Broderick Jones, OT, Georgia

What Jordan Love needs far more than a wide receiver is an offensive tackle. Jones can take over at right tackle, and fill in at left tackle if David Bakhtiari is injured.

16. Washington Commanders

Joey Porter Jr. CB, Penn State

The Commanders need a cornerback, so they take Joey Porter Jr. He’s a big physical cornerback who I expect to be Washington’s number one cornerback on day one.
