NFC North Draft Targets 2023

NFC North Draft Targets Overview

While other scouting sites are focused on players that NFL teams should target in the first round, over here at DraftDive, we like to find gems in the draft. Therefore, we have mid-late round draft picks who each NFC North team should target in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Chicago Bears

Rashee Rice – SMU Wide Receiver

Rice would be a great addition to the Chicago Bears offense. He is a physical receiver with loads of speed and power. When the ball is snapped, he does a good job of manipulating the opposing DB’s hips. This gives him leverage during his route stem, leaving him wide open. Rice is also good at generating extra yards after the catch. Overall, this would make him a very valuable asset for Justin Fields going forward. What is even better, is he will likely go in the 2nd or 3rd round.

Viliami Fehoko – San Jose State EDGE

The Chicago Bears need to completely rebuild their defensive line. Regardless of who they take in the first round, they could benefit from adding more mid-late rounders to that line. Fehoko is very explosive off the snap and can use his power to apply pressure on the QB. Another DraftDive Analyst Brandon mentioned in his report on Fehoko, “I loved the way that Fehoko comes off the snap. Mix that with his strength and you had a great ability to really disrupt a play“. Altogether, Fehoko will likely get drafted in the 4th round.

Alex Forsyth – Oregon Center

Another major weakness on the Bears’ roster is their offensive line. If I was the GM of the Bears, I would focus on building up the trenches in this draft. This includes grabbing a center in the 6th round. Forsyth may not be a polished product right now, but he does have an impressive skill set. When in pass protection, he does a good job of putting his hands in the perfect position. This allows him to neutralize defenders at the point of attack. Unless they address this position earlier in the draft, he would be solid pick

Detroit Lions

Gervon Dexter – Florida Defensive Tackle

Dexter is one of the most underrated defensive tackles in the 2023 NFL Draft. His skill set allows him to play as a 4-3 DT or 3-4 DE. His size and strength allow him to eat up blocks and drive blockers back into the pocket. Dexter also has good play recognition to read play actions and misdirections. He would be a very valuable pick in the 2nd or 3rd round.

Fellow DraftDive Analyst Ken said this about him, “Dexter checks all the boxes on the athletic side and he has all the ability to be effective in the NFL. He just hasn’t put it all together yet. That being said, if he does put it all together he could be a game changer along the line. He is one of the harder players I’ve had to scout in some time because he is so impressive yet disappointing at the same time“.

DeMarvion Overshown – Texas Linebacker

With this pick, the Lions would make their front seven almost unstoppable next season. DeMarvion Overshown is one of the most polished products in this draft class. Additionally, he is very gifted in coverage and has shown glimpses of being good when rushing the QB. He is explosive off the snap and can deliver powerful hits on the ball carrier. Fellow DraftDive Analyst Ed had this to say about Overshown, “this kid plays violent and mean. In a league where off ball linebackers aren’t as coveted as they once were, I think he can be the outlier. His versatility allows him to lineup in so many positions and his explosive speed and strength can definitely be used with a creative defensive coordinator“. Overall, he would be a steal in the 3rd round of the draft.

Cameron Latu – Alabama Tight End

The Lions would really benefit from taking a Tight End in this draft. He is very physical everywhere on the field. When run blocking, he does a good job of getting to the 2nd level and steering defenders at the point of attack. During passing plays, he has solid play speed to run his routes. Additionally, he has good body control to adjust to throws outside of his frame. Although he won’t make an instant impact on the offense, he would be a valuable pick in the 5th round or so.
