Bruins Offense vs. Cardinal Defense
The big scouting matchups when the Stanford Cardinal take on the UCLA Bruins happen when the Bruins are on offense. UCLA quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson is a likely late round-UDFA, but he’s an interesting athletic prospect that will at least be on an NFL roster during the preseason. He will most likely look at tight end Greg Dulcich often as he’s a possible day 2 pick. Stanford will try to counter Dulcich with safeties Mark Antoine and Kendall Williamson. Antione and Williamson are both likely 2022 NFL Draft picks. I’m always excited to see Zach Charbonnet run the ball and I’ll be interested to see what he does against a Stanford defense with a lot of talent all over. I would especially like to see Antoine and Wililamson try and tackle him.
The best UCLA prospect for the 2022 NFL Draft is tackle Sean Rhyan. Rhyan will be facing off against Stanford defensive end Thomas Booker. Rhyan is a higher rated draft prospect right now, but it should be a lot of fun to see them square off against one another. This could be a real statement game for Booker.
Cardinal Offense vs. Bruins Defense
Finally, look for the possible 2021 debut of wide receiver Michael Wilson. It is extremely difficult to get a straight answer from Stanford about Wilson’s health, but an early season estimate had him missing four games. With the injury it seems Wilson has been forgotten, but he’s got special talent. He’s a real sleeper to watch in the 2022 NFL Draft.
