Dolphins Draft Grades

Once again the NFL Draft has come and gone. And that only means that we get to sit back and review how each NFL team did. Next up is the Miami Dolphins, who only came away with four picks this year and none in the first 100 picks. Let’s get right into it the Dolphins Draft Grade.

102nd Overall Selection (Rd3-38) Channing Tindall, ILB, Georgia

A solid sideline-to-sideline linebacker that has good pop and stopping power. However, I was higher on Leo Chenal who was taken with the very next pick. Same goes for Daniel Faalele (who we had as a top 5 OL), Max Mitchell, and Perrion Winfrey. All of who were selected in between the first two Dolphins’ picks. And all who would’ve helped fill a need.

Grade: C+

125th Overall Selection (Rd4-20) Erik Ezukanma, WR, Texas Tech

Ezukanma is a big, speedy receiver. His biggest issue is not coming down with passes that he should. Luckily for him, the Dolphins have a couple good ones in front of him to help ease the pressure. Still, with the likes of Calvin Austin III and Romeo Doubs on the board I probably would have went in another direction.

Grade: D

224th Overall Selection (Rd7-3) Cameron Goode, OLB, California

Goode is an undersized linebacker, but has good closing speed and is solid in pursuit. Nothing more to say about than just taking a late-round flyer on a player.

Grade: D

247th Overall Selection (Rd7-26) Skylar Thompson, QB, Kansas St.

A mobile quarterback, with a good arm. But he lacks accuracy. If the Dolphins were looking for a developmental guy, I would have taken EJ Perry or Cole Johnson. Also, they could have potentially filled a team need with a player like DE Jeffrey Gunter (taken five picks later).

Grade: F

Dolphins Draft Grade Overall: D

Let’s just say, I’m not a fan. The Dolphins only managed to fill one actual need they had coming into the draft. Sure there wasn’t much they were going to be able to do with just four picks. However, they could have at least tried. In an offseason where they made headlines for the surprising firing of former head coach Brian Flores, they could have used a solid draft to help build momentum. However, it looks like they’re going to ride the hope that Tua turns the corner with the help of newly acquired Tyreek Hill.
