Denver Broncos NFL Draft Grade 2023

Broncos 2023 Draft Grade

Round 2, Pick 63 (from Kansas City): Marvin Mims Jr., WR, Oklahoma

The selection of Marvin Mims Jr. in the second round is an excellent choice by the Denver Broncos. Mims is a talented wide receiver who possesses exceptional speed, agility, and route-running skills. He has shown great hands and the ability to create separation from defenders, making him a threat in both short and deep passing routes. With his explosive playmaking ability, Mims will significantly boost the Broncos’ passing attack. Overall, this pick addresses a need for the Broncos and adds a dynamic playmaker to their offense.

Grade: A-

Round 3, Pick 67 (from IND): Drew Sanders, LB, Arkansas

The selection of Drew Sanders in the third round provides Denver with a versatile linebacker who can contribute in multiple ways. Sanders is a physically gifted player with a strong build and excellent athleticism. He has the ability to rush the passer effectively, set the edge against the run, and drop back in coverage. While he may need some refinement in certain areas, such as shedding blocks and reading plays, Sanders has the potential to develop into a solid starter in the Broncos’ defense. His versatility and athleticism make him a good fit for the Denver scheme.

Grade: B+

Round 3, Pick 83 (from SEA): Riley Moss, CB, Iowa

The selection of Riley Moss in the third round adds depth and competition to the Broncos’ cornerback position. Moss is a technically sound corner with good instincts and ball skills. He excels in zone coverage and has shown the ability to read quarterbacks and make plays on the ball. While Denver is pretty solid at the CB position already, I’m a big fan of Moss. He will provide valuable depth and don’t be surprised if he works his way up to a starting role.

Grade: A-

Round 6, Pick 183 (from PIT via DET): JL Skinner, S, Boise State

The selection of JL Skinner in the sixth round provides the Broncos with a developmental safety prospect. Skinner is an athletic and physical safety who excels in run support and tackling. He possesses good instincts and ball-hawking abilities, which could make him a valuable asset in coverage. Skinner really is a fantastic athlete and the kind of player you want your team taking on day 3.

Grade: B+

Round 7, Pick 257: Alex Forsyth, C, Oregon

The selection of Alex Forsyth in the seventh round is a great value pick for Denver. Forsyth is a versatile offensive lineman who played center and guard in college. He has good size, strength, and technique, making him a reliable blocker in both the run and pass game. While he may not possess elite athleticism, Forsyth compensates with his football IQ and awareness. He provides depth and versatility to the Broncos’ offensive line for every interior position. I expect him to also challenge for the starting center spot starting this year.

Grade: A

Overall Thoughts on the Broncos 2023 Draft Grade

The Broncos had a short, but efficient, 2023 draft. They picked players who can contribute immediately, and/or, develop into long-term starters. Broncos fans should be very happy with their results here. Hopefully it’s a sign that a better year is coming.
