Baltimore Ravens Draft Grades

How did the Ravens do in the 2021 NFL Draft? We assign the Baltimore Ravens draft grades for every pick they made.

Round 1: No. 27 – Rashod Bateman, WR, Minnesota

I love this pick, Baltimore needed a wide receiver and Bateman is an athletic talented receiver. He ran a 4.39, but more impressively he runs clean routes and has great hands. I was a big fan of Bateman and think he would fit in well on any team, but it’s a great fit with Baltimore with Lamar Jackson throwing to him. Both analysts had Bateman rated as their number 4 receiver. Grade: A

Round 1: No 31 – Odafe Oweh, LB, Penn State

Odafe Oweh is an interesting prospect, a very divisive prospect. He didn’t have a sack his senior year, but he still made big plays. Honestly, I like him, but I understand why others don’t. I can say that the Ravens needed an edge rusher and Oweh is a good fit as a 3-4 edge rusher. Grade: B

Round 3: No. 94 – Ben Cleveland, G, Georgia

I’m a big fan of Ben Cleveland, but didn’t Baltimore need an offensive tackle? That’s who they traded for a first round pick, so that’s who I expected them to take early. Still, Cleveland is a solid pick here just based on talent alone. Grade: B

Round 3: No. 104 – Brandon Stephens, CB, SMU

Brandon Stephens is a big, super athletic corner. He’s got every single physical tool you would want in a star cornerback. However, he was a running back until two years ago, so he’s still developing at corner. It’s a little early for a developmental player, but he has an insanely high ceiling. Grade: B

Round 4: No. 131 – Tylan Wallace, WR, Oklahoma State

A possession receiver, but a very talented possession receiver. Runs routes well, has excellent hands, and is fantastic on 50-50 balls. Not explosive, but solid and reliable. Every team needs a guy who they know will catch everything thrown their way, so nice pick for Baltimore here. Grade: B+

Round 5: No. 160 (from ARI) – Shaune Wade, CB, Ohio State

Two great years of college ball, with only the previous year being viewed as a disappointment. He was still an All-American this past season, so that’s good to see. He’s another big athlete at the cornerback position for the Ravens, but this one played three years of big time college ball. Grade: A

Round 5: No. 171 – Daelin Hayes, DE, Notre Dame

Hayes backed up Julian Okwara at Notre Dame, therefore he sat more than I would like. However, he was still pretty productive as a backup and is an above average athlete. It’s interesting to see if he makes the team as a depth piece. Grade: B

Round 5: No. 184 – Ben Mason, FB, Michigan

Mason is a great fullback/tight end, well great at the fullback side of it. He looked great at the Senior Bowl in the fullback role. It’s easy to find him blowing up defenders there. However, the Ravens already have a fullback, a two time Pro Bowl fullback named Patrick Ricard. So that’s why this pick baffles me. I like Ben Mason, but how does he make the active roster?
