Round 5, Pick 123 Mike Morris, DE, Michigan

Morris is a strong pass rusher who was a sack machine in college. He does a great job of using his upper body strength and quickness to get to the quarterback and is very effective in shooting gaps. Morris also possesses the size necessary for an effective 3-4 end and he’s got those genetics I love as his father was an offensive lineman at Florida State. I probably like this pick more than anyone else will because Morris was supposed to go later on day 3. You heard it here first, he’s a talented sleeper.

Grade: A

Round 5, Pick 151 Olusegun Oluwatimi, C, Michigan

The Seahawks love Michigan and hey, they’re a pretty good football team so it makes sense. Oluwatimi is a dependable and strong center that can create a strong push up the middle and should be able to protect the quarterback adequately. His quick feet and agility make him an ideal fit for the Seahawks zone blocking scheme. He’s another strong value pick that I could see as a day-one starter at center for Seattle, though I prefer later pick Alex Forsyth.

Grade: A

Round 6, Pick 198 Jerrick Reed II, S, New Mexico

More secondary depth for the Seattle Seahawks here. Reed provides an immediate impact player. He is an aggressive safety who isn’t afraid to come up for run support and he excels in man coverage. Reed also brings impressive size and strength to the Seattle defensive backfield. He’s valuable depth and I’d expect him to contribute immediately on special teams as well.

Grade: B+

Round 7, Pick 237 Kenny McIntosh, RB, Georgia

How many running backs do you need Pete Carroll? I can see what the Seahawks are planning to do with McIntosh though. He’s a third-down back and returner. The biggest issue I have is that Charbonnet already upgrades Seattle’s running backs in the passing game. Seattle could get really creative and line McIntosh up in the slot occasionally. He’s a versatile player who, unfortunately, should end up third or fourth on the depth chart at his natural position.

Grade: B

Final Thoughts on Seahawks Draft Grade

Overall, the Seattle Seahawks had a pretty good 2023 NFL Draft. I still feel they’ll regret not taking Jalen Carter with their first pick, but their draft was pretty solid. They could have gone less heavy on the running back position and taken more offensive linemen, especially early. However, they hit on some late-round picks. It’s a good, not excellent, draft for Seattle that they hope will propel them to at least a playoff win this upcoming season.
