Audric Estime Draft Profile

Audric Estime is a former 4-star recruit from Montvale, NJ. He attended St Joseph Regional High School where he played 3 seasons as a starter for the varsity squad. According to MaxPreps, Estime played in 30 games where he recorded 522 carries for 3,924 yards and 50 touchdowns. Additionally, he racked up 32 receptions for 304 yards and 4 touchdowns. This productivity led to him receiving 18 scholarship offers from Division I programs. Without making an official visit, Estime decided to take his talent to Notre Dame and play for the Fighting Irish.

Estime went on to play 3 seasons for Notre Dame while only getting significant stats as a true sophomore. As a true freshman, he had a total of 7 carries for 60 yards. In his sophomore season, he racked up 156 carries for 920 yards and 11 touchdowns. He also had 9 receptions 135 yards and 1 touchdown. Finally, in his 3rd and final year with the Fighting Irish, Estime was one of the most efficient backs in the nation. He had 210 carries for 1,341 yards and 18 touchdowns. Additionally, he had 17 receptions for 142 yards. Now let’s get into the Audric Estime scouting report.

Strengths

Power

The one part of Estime’s game that stands out the most is his raw power and strength. When he has the ball in his hands, it looks like a freight train is moving down the field because he is so difficult to take down. This is due to his well above-average lower body strength and his ability to stay balanced after being hit. Estime also does a good job of keeping his pad level low when running. This allows him to stay balanced and drop his shoulder and shed off contact to rack up extra yards after contact. His power is also displayed in the passing game when he is in the backfield blocking.

Agility

Although Estime is a powerful back, he does not lack the necessary agility to make defenders miss. In the backfield, he is good at making quick jump cuts to shed defenders and find an open lane. Then he uses his agility and balance to navigate through traffic and keep the play alive. Additionally, Estime is really good at making defenders miss in the open field. He does so by making quick and decisive cuts away from defenders while not losing too much momentum. However, in open field Estime tends to run toward contact rather than away from it.

Vision

Another aspect of Estime’s game that immediately stood out to me was his vision, especially in the backfield. If the offensive line collapses quickly off the snap and his lane is not available, he does a good job of quickly finding another lane for a gain of yards. This is due to his patience and ability to quickly scan the field and find open space. Additionally, Estime displays good vision in the 2nd level by keeping his head on a swivel and knowing where to attack to maximize yardage.

Weaknesses

Top Speed

The biggest concern that I have surrounding Estime’s game is his inadequate ability to separate in the secondary. Although this will not completely inhibit his ability to be effective in the NFL, it will have a strong impact on what he can do in the 2nd level. If he is not able to separate in the 2nd level, he will likely only be a 2nd string power back for most of his career. One player that currently has this problem is AJ Dillon.

Passing Game

This is more of a lack of experience rather than it is a weakness. In his time at Notre Dame, Estime shared snaps with several other running backs and was rarely used on designed passing plays. This will inhibit what he brings to the NFL when it comes to his versatility and will shy some teams away from drafting him. However, if he has time to develop this part of his game, he does have the potential to be a dual-threat RB in a few years.

Final Thoughts on Audric Estime Scouting Report

Although I do have some concerns about what Estime will bring to teams in the NFL, I do believe that he has the potential to be a solid 2nd option for any team in the NFL. He is a hybrid back who has an amazing blend of power and agility. Estime also has the necessary vision and patience needed to improvise when a play falls apart shortly after the snap. Overall, I believe that Estime will have a solid career in the NFL if he works on his versatility.

Audric Estime Draft Stock

This draft class is very different from previous years because there are no elite-level backs who are projected 1st rounders. That said, I have Estime as my number 6 RB on my big board which puts him towards the early-mid 4th round. However, if he does well at the combine, he could definitely move up some draft boards.
