Nyles Williams Draft Profile

Nyles Williams is a three-sport athlete from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Williams competed in football, baseball, and track and field at Brown Deer High School. He was a four-year starter for the football team at wide receiver. Williams received all-suburban and all-conference honors during his junior season for football and was a state qualifier for the 4×100, 4×200, and 4×400 relay events for the track and field team. He also earned all-conference honors as a running back his senior season. Williams helped his team to a first-place finish in the Woodland East Conference.

Strengths

Big Play Ability

One of Nyles Williams’ strengths is his ability to make big plays. He has the speed to get separation from defensive backs, and the athleticism to change directions quickly. He also has the hands to make highlight-reel catches. Williams averaged 16 yards per catch and almost eight yards per carry during his time at Mankato State. He also has great ball skills and is adept at attacking the ball in the air. He is a reliable target that can also make plays in the vertical passing game.

The big plays don’t just come on offense through running or passing, Williams can also return punts and kicks. He’s a versatile weapon in all phases of offense and all phases of special teams.

Route Running Ability

Another strength of Nyles Williams is his route-running ability. He is able to use his agility to create separation from defenders and has a knack for finding open passing windows. Williams has an excellent understanding of how to read the defense and set up his routes accordingly. I am confident in his ability to run a full route tree.

Elusiveness

Nyles Williams also has an impressive ability to make defenders miss in the open field. He is elusive in space and can make defenders look foolish with his shifty footwork. He is a dangerous weapon in the screen game and can make defenders pay if they don’t take proper pursuit angles. Williams gains valuable extra yards on his receptions and rushes by making those defenders miss. Williams is also a physical runner with the ball in his hands. He is a tough runner who is able to fight for extra yards after contact. Williams is also a willing blocker and is not afraid to get his hands dirty to help out his teammates. Again, this makes him extremely valuable in multiple offensive situations as well as on special teams.

Awareness

Finally, Nyles Williams is an intelligent player who is able to understand the game and make quick decisions. He is able to read coverages and adjust his route accordingly. Williams is also able to recognize blitzes and make the appropriate hot reads. He is a smart player who can be trusted to make the right decisions on the field.

Nyles Williams Draft Stock

Another small school player loaded with talent. Williams can run, catch, and return punts and kicks. Still, he’s more than likely a day-three pick or a UDFA.
