Players to Watch

Ole Miss

Matt Corral

Corral has had a fantastic year so far throwing for nearly 1,500 yards and 12 TD with no interceptions. He will have a true test this weekend because one of his favorite weapons Dontario Drummond will likely be lined up against the best corner in college football. Above all, Drummond must find some space against Stingley.

Sam Williams

Williams has been a force to be reckoned with all season. He has five sacks so far this year with two forced fumbles. However, he will need to prove himself this week against LSU’s offensive line.

LSU

Derek Stingley Jr.

Stingley Jr. is the most talented corner in college football. However he will probably not be very involved in the pass defense this week, because if I’m Matt Corral, I would not throw the ball in his direction at all.

Damone Clark

Matt Corral is scary, LSU knows that. Therefore, linebacker Damone Clark needs to be at the top of his game. He needs to keep racking up tackles against the powerful Ole Miss offense. In other words, he needs to wrap up everyone he gets his hands on and limit RAC.

Team Overview

LSU

LSU has not been the same playoff bound LSU that we have been used to the past few years. With that being said, they still have a lot of incredible players on defense such as: Derek Stingley Jr, Mike Jones Jr, Damone Clark and Ali Gaye. In short, these four guys on defense should keep Corral from picking your defense apart. As mentioned in our Florida vs. LSU: College Football Game of the Week report, it is almost certain that Derek Stingley Jr. is a top ten pick in this upcoming draft. However, he also has many other teammates on that LSU defense who are almost guaranteed to get drafted this year.

Ole Miss

Going into this game, Ole Miss continues to be one of the most efficient teams in the nation. Consequently, their offense led by quarterback and potential Heisman candidate Matt Corral has led them to be ranked in top fifteen. Going into the game against Tennessee they were ranked as the thirteenth best team in the nation. Since I don’t know the outcome of this game at the time of writing this, I am going to assume that they are still ranked thirteenth. In order for Ole Miss to win this game against LSU, Corral and the offensive coordinator need to do everything they can to make their offense as unpredictable as possible and last but not least keep the ball away from Stingley Jr.
