Strengths

Playmaker

Hayden Hatten emerged as a dynamic playmaker at the wide receiver position, possessing the ability to impact the passing game in various ways. His understanding of defensive coverages and knack for finding soft spots in zones makes him a reliable target for quarterbacks. Hatten’s versatility allows offensive coordinators to utilize him in different alignments, exploiting mismatches against linebackers and safeties. His playmaking showcases an adeptness at creating explosive plays that elevate the overall efficiency of the passing attack.

Body Control

A standout attribute in Hatten’s game is his exceptional body control. Whether he’s making contested catches in traffic or adjusting to poorly thrown balls, Hatten consistently displays a remarkable ability to contort his body to secure receptions. This skill becomes especially valuable in the red zone, where precise route running and controlled body movements can be differentiators. Hatten’s body control not only aids in catching passes in challenging situations but also contributes to his yards-after-catch effectiveness.

Hands

Hatten’s reliable hands serve as a cornerstone of his game. He consistently plucks passes out of the air with soft and secure hands, minimizing drops and ensuring a high catch rate. This reliability makes him a trusted target in critical situations, including third-down conversions and in the red zone. Hatten’s ability to consistently catch passes away from his body allows quarterbacks to have confidence in targeting him across the middle or along the sidelines.

Weaknesses

Run Blocking

Hatten’s effectiveness as a run blocker is an area that demands improvement. While he demonstrates effort and willingness in engaging defenders, his lack of size can be a hindrance in creating significant push at the point of attack. Developing better technique and leveraging his athleticism will be crucial for Hatten to become a more well-rounded wide receiver, contributing not only in the passing game but also as a blocker in the run game.

Final Thoughts on Hayden Hatten Scouting Report

Hayden Hatten is a prospect with intriguing potential, especially in the passing game. His playmaking ability, body control, and reliable hands suggest a player who can contribute immediately in a team’s aerial attack. However, addressing concerns related to refining his run-blocking skills will be crucial for Hatten to maximize his impact at the next level. As he continues his journey from Idaho to the professional ranks, the spotlight will be on Hatten to showcase his ability to overcome challenges and evolve into a well-rounded wide receiver capable of making significant contributions to an NFL offense.

Hayden Hatten Draft Stock

Hatten is a definite sleeper in the draft. I do think he will be taken later on day three in the 2024 NFL Draft. I’m guessing he’s a 6th-7th round pick. He won’t be taken early like Marvin Harrison Jr. However, he’s a sleeper we expect to be successful in the league.
