Arron Mosby Scouting Report- NFL Draft Sleeper

Fresno State DE/OLB

It’s time to get back to my roots and write about a prospect that isn’t getting the coverage they deserve. I love my sleepers and Arron Mosby from Fresno State is a sleeper, but he may not be for long.

Arron Mosby Positives

Mosby is a straight up playmaker. I’m not sure if you’ve been watching Fresno State football this year, but after two games he’s got two strip sacks and a touchdown. He showed flashes in 2018 and 2019 making a pick in each season and added three forced fumbles. Mosby played well in the shortened 2020 season, but didn’t make any flash plays. He stood out to me in the opener against UConn where he had a strip sack that he returned for a touchdown. I wanted to see how he played against a talented Oregon team though. He responded to the higher level of opponent by racking up another strip sack that was recovered by a teammate.

Fresno State Edge Rusher Arron Mosby

Arron Mosby (15) of the Fresno State Bulldogs.

I mentioned his playmaking ability in previous years. His 97 yard interception return came when he was covering current NFL tight end Josh Oliver. In 2019 he also stuffed Jordan Love and the Utah State running back in a goal line stand, tackling the back for a loss. Mosby can play against NFL caliber talent. He’s a great athlete, he looks to be both quick and fast. He can rush the passer and cover. Mosby was actually a defensive back before bulking up and you can see that in his athleticism. The more I watch him play, the more I like him.

Arron Mosby Negatives

The one negative is that at his current size he’s a bit of a tweener. Well, he’s really NFL linebacker size and Fresno State will line him up as an edge. He could be a stand up rusher in a 3-4, but I would like to see him play OLB in the NFL. Mosby is also in his fifth year, so he’s a little older than some other prospects.

Arron Mosby Final Thoughts

I’m really excited to see what happens with Mosby this year. I would also like to see him get an invite to the NFL Combine, because he looks like a great athlete. He could fit in on any team, but right now I’ll guess Arizona drafts him. Mosby is my first big diamond in the rough for this year. Maybe the rest of the NFL scouts will wake up, but for now Mosby is my favorite sleeper.
