Our Way Too Early Edition 1.0

We decided to bring you two different 2022 NFL Mock Draft way too early editions. This is the best guess at what teams will do and who goes where. The other will be a GM version, dropping soon so stay tuned!!!

1. Detroit Lions-Sam Howell QB North Carolina

If the Lions are picking first they need a QB. Sam Howell is my favorite quarterback in the 2022 NFL Draft.

2. Houston Texans-Spencer Rattler QB Oklahoma

The Texans need a quarterback no matter what, which is why they will suck. Spencer Rattler should challenge for the number one overall spot, but I’m higher on Howell.

3. Jacksonville Jaguars-Kayvon Thibodeaux DE Oregon

Much like his teammate Penei Sewell, Thibodeaux is more than likely the most talented player in the 2022 class. The Jags back into the best player in the draft with quarterback valued higher.

4. Philadelphia Eagles-Derek Stingley Jr. CB LSU

I may be one of the few analysts who believes in Jaylon Hurts, but that doesn’t mean the Eagles are going to be good. They have holes all over the place, so they go with the shutdown corner from LSU.

LSU cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. makes an interception during a game against the Georgia Bulldogs.

5. Cincinnati Bengals-Evan Neal OT Alabama

The Bengals passed on Penei Sewell this year, so they make up for it by taking the top tackle in the 2022 NFL Draft Class. The Bengals need to protect Joe Burrow period.

6. New York Jets-Kyle Hamilton SS Notre Dame

The Jets still have needs almost everywhere. I expect Kyle Hamilton to be the next big time safety coming into the NFL.

7. New York Giants-George Karlaftis DE Purdue

I thought the Giants would look for an edge rusher in this year’s draft. They didn’t take one early this year, so Karlaftis makes sense.

8. Atlanta Falcons-Kaiir Elam CB Florida

The Falcons defense is going to be terrible this year. I think Matt Ryan sticks around and the Falcons look to improve their poor defense.

9. Denver Broncos-Christian Harris LB Alabama

The Broncos need a linebacker. Christian Harris looks to be the best one in the 2022 Draft class.

10. New York Giants-Chris Olave WR Ohio State

The Giants wanted DeVonta Smith this year, so they end up with Chris Olave next year. They need youth at the receiver position.

11. Washington Football Team-Desmond Ridder QB Cincinnati

Washington Football Team needs a young quarterback, unless my boy Taylor Heinicke comes through. Despite my love, it seems unlikely.

Desmond Ridder of the Cincinnati Bearcats drops back to pass.

12. Las Vegas Raiders-Zion Nelson OT Miami

The Raiders got rid of their offensive line this past offseason. Alex Leatherwood is one tackle, but they need a lot more help. I also think Leatherwood may move to guard.

Miami Hurricanes left tackle Zion Nelson in his stance.

13. Carolina Panthers-Rasheed Walker OT Penn State

The Panthers also need offensive line help, particularly in the tackle position. Walker should be an instant upgrade on the team.

14. Minnesota Vikings-George Pickens WR Georgia

The Vikings will be picking at number 32 after they win the Super Bowl, but for the sake of this mock draft they’re at number 14. Based on the players available, Pickens is the best. He’d be a weapon in the slot while Jefferson and Thielen work the outside.

15. Arizona Cardinals-DeMarvin Leal DT Texas A&M

I should probably find a LB/S tweener for the Cards since that’s who they end up taking every year, but I went with a nice big defensive tackle to eat up blocks for those athletic linebackers.

16. Pittsburgh Steelers-Kedon Slovis QB USC

The Steelers need a talented young quarterback. Big Ben can probably go another year or two, but they’re future is a huge question mark. Slovis would provide security for the future.

USC Trojans QB Kedon Slovis drops back to pass.

17. New England Patriots-Nick Bonitto DE Oklahoma

The Pats still have a lot of needs. Their pass rush needs to improve. Bonitto should be a good New England addition.

Oklahoma Sooners star Nick Bonitto sacks the QB.

18. Los Angeles Chargers-Jalen Wydermyer TE Texas A&M

The Chargers future looks bright right now. They’re strong at quarterback, tackle and defense. Let’s give Herbert one more weapon in Wydermyer, the best tight end in the 2022 NFL Draft.

Aggies tight end Jalen Wydermyer celebrates.

19. Dallas Cowboys-Drake Jackson DE USC

The Cowboys still need defense. They’ve been looking at corner in recent drafts, but they could use some pass rush help.

USC defesnive end Drake Jackson wearing number 99.

20. Philadelphia Eagles-Justyn Ross WR Clemson

I mentioned Philly has holes all over the place, and the receiver position is still a need. Will Reagor work out? Maybe, but you still need a real third receiver.

21. Tennessee Titans-Zach Harrison DE Ohio State

The Titans had a good offseason. They addressed the corner, offensive line and wide receiver position. That leaves edge rusher as their most glaring need.

22. Indianapolis Colts-Charles Cross OT Mississippi State

The Colts need another offensive tackle. They have coming off an injury Eric Fisher and guard Braden Smith at the tackle positions.

23. New York Jets-Breece Hall RB Iowa State

The Jets could use a stud running back to take some of the pressure off young quarterback Zach Wilson. Right now they look like a committee with no stand outs.

24. New Orleans Saints-John Metchie III WR Alabama

The Saints need a wide receiver no matter who their quarterback ends up being. They are suddenly very shallow at that position.

Alabama Crimson Tide wide receiver John Metchie III celebrates after a touchdown.

25. Cleveland Browns-Trent McDuffie CB Washington

The Browns actually look pretty strong at a lot of positions. They could use another corner on the other side of the field from Denzel Ward.

Washington Huskies cornerback Trent McDuffie tackles a USC receiver.

26. Miami Dolphins-Nick Broeker OT Ole Miss

The Dolphins could use a right tackle. Though Broeker would be taking over for a fellow Vandal, Jesse Davis.

27. Baltimore Ravens-Ahmad Gardner CB Cincinnati

The Ravens need help in the secondary. Their biggest need looks like tackle, but Ja’Wuan James should be healthy next year.

Bearcats cornerback Ahmad Gardner makes an interception.

28. Detroit Lions-Perrion Winfrey DT Oklahoma

The Lions get their quarterback early in the first, and add the best player available, Perrion Winfrey. Their offensive line should be strong, so they address the defense.

Oklahoma Sooners DT Perrion Winfrey chases iowa State QB Brock Purdy.

29. Green Bay Packers-Brenton Cox LB/Edge Florida State

I mean you know the Packers aren’t going offense in the first round, it’s against their religion. Linebacker is their biggest defensive need, so they go with Brenton Cox.

30. Buffalo Bills-Isaiah Spiller RB Texas A&M

The Bills are pretty stacked. Their one glaring need is a big time running back. Isaiah Spiller has those genetics and those skills.

31. Tampa Bay Buccaneers-Aidan Hutchinson DE Michigan

Tampa is returning all their starters this year. They took Kyle Trask as a quarterback of the future, maybe he’ll work out. I figure they look to the edge with their first round pick in 2022.

32. Kansas City Chiefs-Josh Jobe CB Alabama

The Chiefs have quietly lost a decent amount of secondary talent. I think they look to reload this year, it seems like their biggest need.
